Friction Stir Welding Process

FSW is a solid-state welding process by inserting a non-consumable rotating tool (stirring head) into the joint edge of the workpiece and moving it along the welding line to generate heat, soften the workpiece material and achieve welding through mechanical stirring and flow. This method is particularly suitable for welding aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous metals. For example, in the manufacturing process of water cooling jacket for electric motor, friction stir welding (FSW) technology can be used to weld the metal parts of the water-cooling jacket, especially when these parts are made of non-ferrous metals such as aluminum alloys. FSW is also used in the manufacture of eco convection panel heaters. FSW technology is widely used in such applications because of the high-quality welded joints, low deformation and excellent mechanical properties it provides.
